Abstract

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is one of the main plantation commodities that plays an important role in the Indonesian economy. One of the major constraints in oil palm cultivation is the attack of Tirathaba mundella, which can reduce fruit set, bunch weight, and oil yield. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a systemic insecticide containing chlorantraniliprole in suppressing the attack intensity of T. mundella on oil palm plants. The research was conducted at West Plantation of PT Steelindo Wahana Perkasa, East Belitung Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, from October to November 2025. The study used a non-factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with five treatments and five replications. The treatments consisted of control, 0.5 ml/L, 1 ml/L, 1.5 ml/L, and 2 ml/L water concentrations. Insecticide application was carried out using a spray volume of 1 liter per plant. Observations were conducted weekly for four weeks using a scoring method to assess pest attack intensity. The results showed that chlorantraniliprole application effectively reduced the attack intensity of T. mundella compared to the control treatment. The best result was obtained at a concentration of 1 ml/L water with an average attack intensity of 3.75%, while the control treatment reached 50.62%. Therefore, chlorantraniliprole at 1 ml/L water has the potential to be used as an optimum dose for controlling T. mundella in oil palm plantations.
